Telemetry

Overview

The Improvement Program of Chaos Software GmbH (Chaos) is based on telemetry. The program helps Chaos to track general Product usage statistics and to automatically collect crash information. The type of information that is collected includes what Product functionality and/or parameter values people use most often, which helps Chaos to optimize and improve Product’s performance. There are two types of telemetry that you can choose to enable in Chaos’ Products, namely:

  • Anonymized Telemetry – this is product usage data that does not contain any personally identifiable information. This data is not tied to the user’s individual account and is used mainly for aggregated statistics.
  • Personalized Telemetry – this is product usage data that is tied to an individual user’s license and therefore contains personally identifiable information. It consists of the same data elements as in anonymized telemetry that can be tied to a specific user so that we tailor and optimize our products for better personal use.

No scenes, assets, or materials are collected in either type of telemetry.

Telemetry Files

The collected data is stored until it is sent to Chaos.

The unsent data is stored in a compressed XML file, which can be found here:

  • Windows: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\Enscape\UserActionLogs
  • macOS: Users/<username>/Library/Caches/Enscape/UserActionLogs/

The collected data can be inspected by un-archiving the file and opening it in any text editor.

Enable Telemetry

You can permit Chaos to receive telemetry data by enabling Telemetry at the end of the product installation.
